Take notes from my mistakes

If you follow my advice, your writing/freelancing career will skyrocket.

You can easily find a lot of people who boast about their achievements online and offline. They only show one side of the coin.

But what about their failures?

Well, many individuals prefer to hide the mistakes they made. But I proudly say that I do not belong to that category.

If you ever interact with me, on LinkedIn, through emails or any other platform, you will definitely observe the positive vibes. I give you the freedom to ask me about career, life and anything you want to know. (because of this, I feel I am a good consultant lol)

Moreover, I am an extrovert so I love communicating and helping others. I am one of those people you’ll meet online, and feel comfort and support like best friends.

You might feel that I am praising myself a lot. It is just that I am proud of myself, even in hardships. So, I believe in self-praise instead of waiting for others to compliment me.

Note: You can try this too and gradually, you will not think negative about yourself.

Keeping all this in mind, if you picture me as a perfect person image in your head, let me tell you. I am not that person.

I made a lot of mistakes. I still do. But I consider the positive side or spend time in finding the solutions to them.

When I started content writing, I was an absolute beginner who had no idea whom to talk to, how to start, should I buy any course or not, and nothing at all.

This was a period of mistakes and learning for me. I did many things wrong. I corrected them myself. All this helped me in analyzing and figuring out everything on my own.

These are 5 main takeaways from those experiments.

Define the Meaning of Success to You

What do you mean when you say I want to be successful?

Do you consider money? career growth?

What is it?

Define.

I made this mistake in the beginning when I just wanted to write. I had no clarity about my meaning of success. I just do not want you to do the same.

But why am I asking you to do that?

It is because you take better decisions when you know what you want.

Networking is a Must, Right from Day 1

Networking is something which is non-negotiable. You can not hope for success in writing and freelancing without this.

Why you should network with others?

  • You get opportunities to learn from your peers.
  • You get inbound leads or referrals from your network.
  • You become aware of a lot of things, especially as a newbie.

(Like how to charge, what to do, what not to do, etc. )

So, if you are not building connections with your competitors and clients, START IT TODAY.

Networking helps you in becoming better and more successful.

Build Your Writing/Freelancing plan

Define your 1 month goals. What do you want to achieve?

How many clients you want to work with.

After that, make some long term plans as well, like 3 month or 6 month plans.

Publish for a targeted audience

When you write for everyone, your content reaches no one.

Be specific when it comes to what to write(your niche) and for whom.

Tip: Make sure your targeted audience comes from the industry of your ideal client.

Never stop creating content

If you are a writer or freelancer. Please do not stop what you do. I know sometimes, we do not feel like doing anything. We just want to disappear.

It is completely alright. Take small breaks.

Calm your mind and make a powerful comeback.

Avoid going on long breaks because when you will return, you will feel the fear of missing out and it will become like you are starting again.

Note: If for some reason, you have to take long breaks, never feel guilty to start again :)

Final Words

When you start your content writing or freelancing journey, you need to be prepared for obstacles. This is not easy, but isn’t impossible as well.

Learn from the mistakes of others and keep going.

Thanks for reading and take care.
