Algorithm issues?
Medium Algorithm is pissing me off!!!
What’s wrong with you, Medium?
With the reintroduction of the mobile editing feature, every writer was delighted. Writers were saying how Medium is going to be better now.
But it took a sharp U-turn.
If you have noticed, there are some issues with Medium these days. The major one is about views. Now, if you do not spend hours engaging with useful and useless stories, your views will decline.
This is what I mean —
This is the screenshot of my stats for this month and you can see the drop. This happened because I did not give Medium hours of my life each day and thus, it did not give me views on my articles.
Medium wants us to spend our maximum time on engaging with other posts if we want good views on our posts. But who has this much time??? Who can spare extra hours out of our schedules to give to Medium??? I can’t.
If you are a part of my active audience, you might have seen that I am not posting much on Medium. Reason? This issue.
We, all have 24 hours in a day. We have chores to do and tasks to finish. No one can spend hours engaging, merely to get views. If you belong to a country that isn’t in the MPP list, you are not getting money in return for those views. So, what’s the point of devoting 4–6 hours daily?
You also know that not every post is valuable on Medium. Some are faking money posts. Some are senseless and what not. I don’t see a point in giving Medium a major part of my routine.
Hence, I got fewer views. But it’s alright.
If not Medium, which platform is getting my attention?
It’s LinkedIn. Yes. I am focusing on building my personal brand on LinkedIn and creating content for my ideal audience and potential clients. After LinkedIn, Twitter is my next favorite. Although I am not active on Twitter now, I am planning to target my audience and prospects there to get leads to work.
If you don’t know, let me tell you. LinkedIn and Twitter are the best platforms for personal growth and getting work opportunities.
All you need to do is create content tailored to your clients and be consistent.
All the best.
