Soft skills that make you stand out from the crowd.
You are an amazing writer with incredible hard skills. But are you familiar with your soft skills? Do you know about yourself or are you stuck in developing hard skills only?
If you have not paid attention, don’t worry. I’m back with 5 powerful soft skills which you can check if you have them or not.
Do let me know your soft skills in the comment section! Let’s go —
1. Are You Confident?
Confidence is a must when you want to get clients and earn money. You need the confidence to reach out to prospects. You need it to present yourself in front of them. You need it to close the deal.
If you are a writer who is self-confident, I appreciate you.
If you do not feel it, pretend like you are the most confident person you know and gradually, your mind will act like that. Cool, right?
2. Do Your Write-ups Have Creativity?
Readers want something new from us. They stay where they get value and for that, you as a writer, have to present non-obvious content.
In simple words, you should have the creativity to write 1 thing in 1000 fresh ways. You will have infinite content and your creativity in writing will make your readers stick to your content.
3. Can You Communicate Effectively?
Apart from confidence, you need good communication skills to convert your prospects into clients.
Imagine you reached out to a person who has the potential to be your next client. You sent him a cold email in which you presented your services to be the solution to his problems.
He decided to be on a quick discovery call with you.
Does this sentence excite you?
Yes? Perfect.
No? You may feel nervous while talking to him and can lose a client. In that case, you need to work on it.
Try speaking in front of the mirror so that you do not fumble the next time you connect with any client. All the best. :)
How Good Are You In Managing Your Time?
Of course. Writers like you and I must have the skill to manage our time effectively. The time we spend on writing for our blogs, clients’ websites and brands, creating content and networking with our fellow writers and clients must be managed properly to have a work-life balance.
Try to have a fixed time for writing and engagement. This will allow you to have more control over your time and life.
5. Can Your Content Persuade Readers?
Imagine you are writing for a brand, they asked you to write for their website’s landing page.
You have written content and attached a call-to-action at the end.
Think now, how and why will a reader click on the CTA link?
Have you persuaded him in your content?
If yes, you have the skill of persuasiveness in your writing. You have the ability to convince readers with your words.
This is amazing when it comes to working with high-paying clients. (Value + Persuasiveness = More conversions = win-win situation for you and the brand)
Okay Anamika, we got to know these soft skills. But my question is — How can I develop one, when I don’t have it?
If this is your question, keep reading :)
How You Can Develop a Skill?
You do not have to take stress. You can develop a skill in 3 easy steps —
Baby steps
In order to develop any skill, you should start by taking small actions. If you directly plan a hectic schedule for yourself, you will end up doing nothing.
Hence, take baby steps and they will lead you to your destination.
Consistency
Alright, you are successfully taking baby steps. But are you doing so consistently?
If yes, you are more likely to make progress much faster than you will by being inconsistent. Thus, make efforts to stay consistent in developing the skill you want.
“When it comes to mastering a skill, time is the magic ingredient.”
Treat Yourself
Whenever you see some growth through taking small steps consistently, reward yourself. Be proud and encourage yourself to proceed further.
Final Words
Soft skills are equally important as your hard skills.
You can get some writing work through your hard skills. But to produce content effectively and to give the best value to your client, you need soft skills as well.
Appreciate these skills too.
Thanks for reading and take care :)
